Recently, our offer was joined by CloudCoreRouter CCR2004-1G-12S + 2XS manufactured by Mikrotik. This is the first CCR in the new 2xxx series. It has been equipped with 1 gigabit ethernet port, 12 SFP + (10 Gbps) slots and something that Mikrotik has never seen before - 2 Full-Duplex SFP28 ports with a throughput of up to 25Gbps. This standard has been available since 2014 (according to the source wikipedia.org), but only now has it appeared in one of the devices of the Latvian manufacturer. The housing has been adapted for mounting in a 19 "rack, the set includes mounting bracket.

SFP28 ports are the same size as SFP / SFP + modules. In this particular Mikrotik model, SFP28 and SFP + modules can be used interchangeably. In our tests, we checked 3 configurations:

If we do not want to pay for SFP28 modules at one time, we can first use SFP + modules, and in the future, buy versions of SFP28, if our network needs modernization. The offered product has (at the moment) a processor with the highest clock speed among the entire MikroTik offer. AL32400 has 4 cores, each clocked at 1700 MHz. This makes it ideal for BGP and provides satisfactory results in a single VPN tunnel (up to 3.4 Gb / s). DDR4 RAM memory was used, faster than older standards.
