The Huawei S310-48T4X is a manageable switch from the eKitEngine series. It features 48 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) and 4 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). It provides Layer 2 management and basic Layer 3 functions. The switch supports Spanning Tree Protocols (STP / RSTP / MSTP) and the modern ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) standard. It has a Smart Link function that allows for backup connections. Devices from the S310 series can be connected to multiple aggregating switches using multiple connections, ensuring network operation in case of a cable failure. The product offers advanced security features, protecting against various types of attacks (including DoS, IP/MAC spoofing, and SYN flood). It uses DHCP Snooping and records ARP entries, protecting against ARP spoofing. An additional advantage is the support for iStack, allowing multiple switches to be virtually stacked into a single device. Management can be performed using the Web UI, CLI, or SNMP. The device supports cloud management and the eKit app. The switch has a built-in AC power supply and active cooling with intelligent fan speed adjustment. The S310-48T4X is designed to be used as a core switch in networks based on eKitEngine solutions. Due to its extensive management capabilities and numerous features, it is also suitable for other applications, not just in conjunction with access points.
48x gigabit Ethernet, 4x SFP+
The switch is equipped with 48 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) and 4 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). It has a switching capacity of 176 Gbps and a packet forwarding rate of 131 Mpps. The SFP+ slots provide high-speed connectivity (up to 10 Gbps), allowing for the connection of multiple network segments or high-performance devices such as servers.
Layer 2+ management, iStack
The device fully supports Layer 2 management and also includes basic Layer 3 functions such as static routing. It supports VLANs, multicasts (IGMP Snooping, MLD Snooping), Quality of Service (QoS), and Access Control Lists (ACL). It also supports Spanning Tree Protocols (STP / RSTP / MSTP) and the modern ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) standard defined in ITU-T G.8032.
The switch provides essential network security features. It protects against DoS attacks such as SYN flood, Land, Smurf, and ICMP flood. It also has protection against user-targeted attacks, including rogue DHCP server attacks, IP/MAC spoofing, DHCP request flood, and DHCP CHADDR attacks.
The S310 series supports the iStack feature, allowing multiple switches to be logically stacked into a single virtual switch. This simplifies network management and enables the creation of additional backup connections, providing protection against potential failures.
Management is carried out through a graphical Web interface, CLI, or using SNMP (v1, v2c, v3) / SSH2.0. Devices in the S310 series can also be managed in the cloud, and in this case, you can additionally use the Huawei eKit app.
Usage
Thanks to its extensive management capabilities, the S310-48T4X is an excellent choice as the main switch in various types of networks. The use of 48 ports allows you to connect many devices that do not require PoE power. In smaller office networks, the S310-48T4X can successfully serve as the sole switch. The SFP+ slots can be used to connect aggregating switches or important devices such as NAS servers or routers.
