Ubiquiti WAN Switch RJ45 is a device designed to connect two UniFi Gateways in Shadow Mode to a single ISP connection. Shadow Mode enhances overall network reliability by allowing the use of two Gateways—one as the primary unit and the other as the secondary unit. In the event of a failure (loss of connection) of the primary device, the secondary device takes over. Thanks to the implementation of VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) and firewall connection state tracking, switching between the primary and secondary devices is seamless and imperceptible to the user. The USW-WAN-RJ45 is equipped with three 10G Ethernet ports (0.1 / 1 / 2.5 / 5 / 10 Gbps). Two of these are used to connect the Gateways, and the third is for connecting the ISP signal source. The chassis is designed for 19" rack mounting and has a height of 1U. Inside the enclosure are two integrated 36 W AC/DC power supplies, which can be connected to two independent power sources.
UniFi Switch for Shadow Mode Support
The offered product is a switch designed to connect two UniFi Gateways operating in Shadow Mode. Shadow Mode is a special feature that enhances overall network reliability. It allows one Gateway to be configured as the master and the other as the secondary. In the event of a connection loss with the master, the network automatically switches to the secondary device. This ensures the entire system is prepared for a Gateway failure. Thanks to the use of VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) and firewall connection state tracking, switching between the devices is seamless and unnoticeable to users.
With a single WAN Switch device, you can connect two Gateways to one ISP signal. If you are using two independent ISP services, you will need two WAN Switches. The diagram illustrates a network setup with two ISP signals and two WAN Switches.

3 x 10G Ethernet Ports
The device is equipped with a total of 3 x 10G Ethernet ports, which support automatic speed negotiation and can operate at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps, or 10 Gbps. One port is used to connect the ISP signal, while the remaining two are used to connect the Gateways.
Two Integrated Power Supplies, 19" Rack-Mountable Enclosure
The enclosure is designed for installation in a 19" rack and has a height of 1U. Inside, there are two integrated 36 W AC power supplies. These power supplies operate redundantly—if one fails, the other seamlessly takes over. The device's maximum power consumption is 18 W.
