Ubiquiti Wave-AP is a base station designed to work in the 60 GHz band. It has an integrated antenna, it can handle up to 15 connected devices simultaneously. The transmission capacity is 5.4 Gbps (2.7 Gbps duplex), using this solution you can connect several subscribers and provide them with very large packages. This type of network is perfect for cooperation with corporate clients. Using Wave Nano as a client device, you can achieve a range of up to 5 km, while using Wave Long-Range up to 8 km.
The offered product is equipped with 1 SFP+ slot (10 Gb/s) and 1 2.5G Ethernet port. Thanks to this, the cable connection will in no way limit the speed that the wireless interface can achieve. The efficient, quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz is responsible for the work. The device is fully adapted for outdoor installation, it can be powered using PoE 24 V or 48 V.
An additional advantage is the spare (backup) 5 GHz radio, which takes over in the event of a failure of the main connection. A radio compatible with the Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax standard and modulation up to 1024QAM was used. Thanks to this, even in the event of a failure, your customers will have access to a network with relatively high bandwidth.
60 GHz Base Station, 5,4 Gb/s throughput
The device is designed to work as a base station in the 60 GHz band, in PTMP (point-to-multipoint) networks. You can connect other solutions from the Ubiquiti Wave series to the Wave AP, currently it is Wave Nano and Wave Long-Range. The total throughput is 5.4 Gbps - 2.7 Gbps in duplex. This speed is much higher than in classic 5 / 6 GHz networks, so you have the opportunity to offer the client large data packages.
Up to 15 clients, range up to 8 km
You can connect up to 15 client devices to the Wave AP. On the one hand, it seems not much, but taking into account the limitations in the range in the 60 GHz band, you are able to cover potentially many subscribers with the network.
The transmission range depends on the type of client device used. When using Wave Nano, the maximum range is 5 km, and when using Wave Long-Range, the range is 8 km.
Integrated antennas, outdoor installation
The offered product has three types of integrated antennas. The main antenna is responsible for the connection in the 60 GHz band, has a gain of 24 dBi, and the beam diameter is 30° horizontally and 3° vertically.
In addition, Wave AP has an antenna for operation in the 5 GHz band (backup radio) with a gain of 12 dBi and an integrated GPS antenna. The device is fully adapted for outdoor installation. The set includes a bracket that will allow you to mount the Wave AP on a pole. A handle was used to adjust the inclination in the vertical plane.
Backup 5GHz radio
Wave AP has an additional radio designed to work in the 5 GHz band, which resumes operation in the event of a failure of the main connection. It uses the modern Wi-Fi 6 standard (802.11ax protocol), provides much higher throughput than airMAX ac solutions. The 5 GHz backup radio is a very important element of devices designed to work in the 60 GHz band, because it provides the necessary transmission stability, regardless of weather conditions.
SFP+ slot, 2.5G Ethernet port, PoE power supply
SFP+ slot, 2.5G Ethernet port, PoE power supply The device is equipped with an SFP+ slot (10 Gb/s) and a 2.5G Ethernet port. The Ethernet port starts working only when the SFP+ slot is inactive. Thanks to the use of a physical interface with a bandwidth of 10 Gb/s, you can take full advantage of the speed offered by the radio interface.
Wave AP can be powered using passive PoE. Supports 24 V DC on 4 pairs and 48 V DC on 2 or 4 pairs. The maximum power consumption is 24 W, the set includes the included PoE power adapter (48 V DC / 0.65 A).
