The Ubiquiti Wave-AP-Micro is a base station designed to operate in the 60 GHz frequency band. It features an integrated sector antenna with a main beamwidth of 90°. The base station can connect to a maximum of 15 client devices, and the transmission throughput can reach up to 5 Gb/s (2.5 Gb/s duplex). The range depends on the client device used, with a range of 6 km when using Wave Pro or Wave Long-Range and 4 km in the case of Wave Nano.
The offered product features 1 port of 2.5G Ethernet (1/2.5 Gb/s), which serves as both the PoE input. The input voltage range is 22 - 27 V DC or 44 - 54 V DC. Detailed information about the power supply wires can be found in the specifications. It is powered by an efficient quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. The device is fully suitable for outdoor mounting, with an IPX6 protection rating.
An additional advantage is the backup 5 GHz radio, which takes over in the event of a failure in the primary connection. A Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax compatible radio with 1024QAM modulation is used for this purpose. This ensures that even in the event of a failure, your clients will have access to a network with relatively high throughput.
60 GHz base station, 5 Gb/s throughput
The Wave-AP-Micro is designed to operate in the 60 GHz frequency band as an Access Point in Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) networks. The total transmission throughput is up to 5 Gb/s, with 2.5 Gb/s in duplex, and it can support a maximum of 15 clients. The offered speed is significantly higher than in standard 5/6 GHz networks. This allows you to provide subscribers with large data packages, especially in business plans.
Up to 15 clients, 6 km range
Connecting a maximum of 15 client devices to the Wave AP Micro might seem limited at first glance. However, considering the constraints in the range of the 60 GHz frequency band, you can still cover a potentially large number of subscribers with the network. The focus on a higher throughput and specialized use in specific scenarios, such as business plans, may outweigh the limitation in the number of connectable devices for certain applications.
The transmission range is dependent on the type of client device used. When utilizing the Wave Nano, the maximum range is 4 km, while using the Wave Long-Range or Wave Pro extends the range to 6 km. This flexibility allows you to tailor the network to different deployment scenarios based on the specific needs and distances involved.
Integrated antenna 90°
The device is equipped with an integrated sector antenna with a main beamwidth of 90° horizontally and 7° vertically, and a gain of 20 dBi. An additional advantage is the built-in GPS and Bluetooth radios, the latter used for configuration purposes. These features enhance the functionality and ease of use of the device, allowing for precise positioning with GPS and convenient configuration through Bluetooth connectivity.
The Wave-AP-Micro offers a slightly shorter transmission range compared to the Wave-AP, but in return, it provides a significantly wider main beam (90° in Wave-AP-Micro compared to 30° in Wave-AP). In many situations, the use of a broader beam allows for the coverage of additional clients within the range. This makes the Wave-AP-Micro well-suited for scenarios where a wider coverage area is a priority over an extended transmission range.
Backup 5 GHz radio, universal mount
The Wave-AP-Micro is equipped with a backup radio operating in the 5 GHz frequency band. It takes over in the event of a failure in the primary connection, ensuring continuity of transmission. The radio utilizes the Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax standard and supports throughput up to 800 Mb/s. This redundancy feature enhances the reliability of the system by providing an alternative connection in case of any issues with the main link, maintaining a seamless transmission experience.
The device has been fully adapted for outdoor use, featuring an IPX6 protection rating. It is equipped with a ball mount that allows for easy adjustment of the tilt angle. This design ensures durability and flexibility in outdoor installations, providing the ability to fine-tune the device's orientation to meet specific deployment requirements.
2.5G Ethernet port, PoE powering
The offered product features 1 port of 2.5G Ethernet (1/2.5 Gb/s), which simultaneously serves as the power input. This interface enables the full realization of the wireless connection capabilities, providing a robust and efficient means of both data transfer and power supply for the device.
The input voltage ranges from 22 - 27 V DC or 44 - 54 V DC. If you are using a lower voltage, the power supply must be conducted across all 4 pairs. For detailed information, you can refer to the table below the description. The maximum power consumption is 24 W.
