TP-Link EAP680 is an access point designed to operate under the Omada system. It can transmit wireless networks according to the Wi-Fi 6 standard, utilizing IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax protocols in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. The maximum theoretical throughput is 1148 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band and 4804 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band, significantly higher than that offered by standard AX1800 and AX3000 access points. EAP680 can be managed through the Omada system, allowing centralized management of multiple devices, including access points, switches, and routers. The product offers 1 2.5G Ethernet port (2500 Mb/s), which also serves as the PoE power input (802.3at). Power can also be supplied using a standard DC power socket (input voltage 12 V, nominal current 2 A). With the included accessories, the device can be mounted on the wall or ceiling.
Wi-Fi 6 AX6000 wireless network
The access point is designed to transmit wireless networks in accordance with the Wi-Fi 6 standard. It utilizes IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax protocols in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. By employing up to 4 data streams, it provides much higher throughput than competing Wi-Fi 6 solutions. The maximum theoretical throughput is 1148 Mb/s in 2.4 GHz and 4804 Mb/s in 5 GHz. The high speed enables users to have good access to network resources, particularly useful when many clients are connected simultaneously. By installing the EAP680 in critical network locations (such as conference rooms), you will be able to ensure users have good throughput even under heavy load.
High performance for more devices
The EAP680 utilizes OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies, significantly enhancing the quality of the wireless network when multiple users are connected simultaneously. The first technology (OFDMA) enables multiple data streams to be conducted, without blocking a particular channel solely for one client. MU-MIMO allows simultaneous transmission and reception of data from multiple users, minimizing data queuing. Up to 512 clients can be connected to the access point at any given time. This makes the device suitable for demanding locations such as lecture halls, conference rooms, or exhibition halls. It will perform well wherever high user density is expected.
Omada platform
The TP-Link EAP680 is compatible with the Omada system. This platform allows centralized management of multiple devices, including access points, switches, and routers. It facilitates the maintenance of large networks and significantly saves the administrator's time. A hotspot created with the Omada system enables Wi-Fi coverage over very large areas, allows user access management, ensures reliability, and provides robust security. You can manage the system using a hardware controller, a controller software available on PC, or a cloud controller.
Auto channel selection and power adjustment
The device automatically selects the best transmission channel, choosing ones that are not currently occupied by other connections, thus avoiding interference. The transmit power is also automatically adjusted to ensure that individual access points do not interfere with each other.
Omada Mesh
The offered product supports Mesh technology, enabling communication with other wireless access points. You don't need to run Ethernet cables to each device, which significantly simplifies installation in many locations.
Optimized network performance
The Omada system optimizes connections between access points within the network. It ensures appropriate backhaul links so that Wi-Fi transmitted by individual devices is not of low quality. In case of failure of one access point, the system finds alternative connections to ensure the continued operation of the entire network.
Guest network
In total, you can create up to 16 different SSIDs (network names). A dedicated network for guests is separated from the resources of the main network, significantly improving security.
Captive Portal
You can create your own welcome page, which will serve as a user authentication portal. For login, you can utilize methods such as vouchers or SMS codes. 802.1x authentication ensures high security of the connection.
WPA3 encryption
With the Wi-Fi 6 standard, the access point supports modern data encryption - WPA3. Your network is protected against external attacks at a much higher level than with Wi-Fi 5 and older devices.
Band steering
The Omada system autonomously determines which band a particular user should be connected to. If a client is on the edge of coverage or the 5 GHz network is overloaded, they will be connected to the 2.4 GHz band. Otherwise, for optimal throughput, they will utilize the 5 GHz transmission.
Load balancing
Omada enables the use of load balancing. In this mode, the system attempts to balance the load across individual access points so that none of them are significantly more burdened than the others. Users will be switched to other available access points as necessary.
Airtime Fairness
In networks without airtime fairness, older wireless devices with lower speeds can block access to the network for clients supporting newer standards. Airtime fairness balances network usage among devices with different protocols to increase the overall transmission throughput.
