Description

The TP-Link SG116P is a switch equipped with 16 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps). All ports have PoE+ output supporting protocols 802.3af/at. The maximum power per port, according to the standard, is 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at. The total power budget for the entire device is 120 W. The switch does not have management capabilities, but it features several operating modes/functions that you can switch using physical switches. The "Extend" mode allows you to extend the PoE range on ports 1-4 to 250 meters (at the expense of limiting throughput to 10 Mbps). The "Priority" mode prioritizes traffic on ports 1-4, and the "Isolation" button enables isolation on ports 1-7 / 8-14. The "PoE Auto Recovery" function is used for remotely restarting connected devices upon detecting  unresponsiveness. The SG116P has a metal casing and passive cooling. It is suitable for wall-mounted or desktop mounting (placing it on a desk or shelf).

16 gigabit Ethernet ports, 16 PoE+ outputs

The offered product features 16 gigabit Ethernet ports, each equipped with PoE+ output supporting IEEE 802.3 af/at protocols. The maximum power output per port is 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at, according to standards. The total power budget for the entire device is 120 W. The PoE+ standard is widely used in telecommunications, with devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and access points utilizing it. Thanks to the implementation of gigabit Ethernet ports, the SG116P is best suited for networks composed of access points (APs), but it can also be used in many other scenarios. The appropriate number of ports enables the switch to be used, for example, in office spaces, for simultaneous support of cameras, phones, and APs.

Plug & play

The SG116P is a plug-and-play device, meaning it doesn't require any initial configuration. Simply connect the switch to a power source, and it's ready to operate.

"Extend" function

The "Extend" function, when enabled, extends the PoE range on ports 1-4 up to 250 meters. This is achieved at the expense of limiting the throughput to 10 Mbps. This feature is dedicated to powering IP cameras located at a considerable distance from the switch. It will be appreciated by every user involved in building IP monitoring networks.

Priority mode

Using the "Priority" mode, ports 1 - 4 have a higher traffic priority compared to the others. You can connect the most important devices in the network to these ports.

Isolation mode

You can isolate ports in sections 1 - 7 or 8 - 14 from each other. This will help you avoid snooping and broadcast storms, thus increasing security.

"PoE Auto Recovery" function

Thanks to this feature, the switch can remotely restart devices connected to power. Restarting will be performed if the device becomes unresponsive. This function saves your time that you would otherwise spend manually restarting hung-up equipment.

Intelligent Power Management

The switch has power management capabilities. In the event of excessive load (above 120W), the port with the lowest priority is disconnected. The remaining ports continue to operate normally, supplying power to the connected devices.

An additional advantage is the automatic detection of Power over Ethernet (PoE) in connected devices. This is aimed at protecting devices that do not support PoE from potential damage.

Desktop Metal Casing

The SG116P features a sturdy, metal enclosure that provides good heat dissipation, which is important due to its passive cooling design. The device supports desktop mounting (placing on a shelf/desk) or wall-mounting; however, wall-mounting brackets need to be purchased separately.
