The Ubiquiti USW-Pro-Max-24-PoE is a managed switch designed to operate under the UniFi system. It features 16 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps), 8 2.5G Ethernet ports (1/2.5 Gbps), and 2 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). Ports 1-8 (gigabit Ethernet) have PoE+ power output (802.3 af/at protocols), while the remaining Ethernet ports provide PoE++ power output (802.3 af/at/bt protocols). The maximum power output per port is 15.4 W for 802.3 af, 30 W for 802.3 at, or 60 W for 802.3 bt, depending on the standard. The total power budget for the entire switch is 400 W. Thanks to its PoE++ power compatibility, the device can support modern high-power access points.
Switches from the Pro series stand out with advanced management features. In addition to supporting Layer 2 functions (such as IGMP Snooping, port isolation, Voice VLAN, and DHCP Snooping), they also provide basic Layer 3 functionality. The device supports DHCP, DHCP relay, Inter-VLAN routing, static routing, and network isolation based on access control lists. The Pro-Max-24-PoE is ideal as the main switch in smaller networks based on modern access points or as an access switch in larger networks.
UniFi Network
The offered product operates under the UniFi software. UniFi enables centralized management of multiple devices from a single application. It is primarily designed for building hotspot networks composed of access points but also supports monitoring systems - the "Protect" series. With UniFi, you can build an extensive network and control it from one system. This allows for rapid configuration changes, hotspot settings adjustments, or firmware updates. The UniFi application is entirely free; you can download it for your computer or as a mobile app.
16 gigabit Ethernet ports, 8 2.5G Ethernet ports, 2 SFP+ slots, PoE++
The switch is equipped with 16 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps), 8 2.5G Ethernet ports (1/2.5 Gbps), and 2 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). The total switching throughput is 112 Gbps, making the device suitable for high-throughput networks. The use of 2.5G Ethernet ports allows for increasing the network backbone speed to 2.5 Gbps. You can connect essential devices such as routers or servers to the SFP+ slots.
Additionally, all gigabit Ethernet ports feature PoE/PoE+ power output (802.3af/at), while the 2.5G Ethernet ports provide PoE++ power output (802.3bt). The maximum power output per port complies with standards: 15.4 W for 802.3af, 30 W for 802.3at, or 60 W for 802.3bt. The total power budget for the entire device is 400 W. The 2.5G ports are perfect for connecting and powering modern Wi-Fi 7 access points.
Advanced management
The offered product supports all standard Layer 2 features such as IGMP Snooping, LACP, DHCP Snooping, port isolation, and STP/RSTP. Additionally, it supports some Layer 3 features including static routing, network isolation using ACLs, Inter-VLAN routing, and DHCP relay.
Devices from the USW-Pro-Max series provide more advanced management compared to the USW or USW-Pro solutions.
Etherlightning
Etherlightning is a feature introduced by Ubiquiti to improve monitoring and management of cabling. Each port can be illuminated to aid in locating it, detect throughput, or mark a specific VLAN/network. You can choose from various colors, and settings can be selected via the mobile application available on Android/iOS devices. When in a server room, you can easily locate the port to which a particular device is connected without needing to bring a computer – just your smartphone will suffice. To achieve optimal brightness of the illumination, it's recommended to use patch cords from the UniFi Etherlightning Patch Cable series.
Rack 19" cabinet, optional DC backup
The switch enclosure is designed for mounting in a 19" rack cabinet, and it comes with necessary mounting accessories (ears, screws, and power cable). The device features a built-in AC power supply with an input voltage range of 100 - 240 V AC. The maximum power consumption of the switch itself is 50 W, while the PoE power budget is 400 W.
Optionally, you can utilize additional backup DC power by using the UniFi Power Backup (USP-RPS) along with the appropriate cable. The DC connector is not compatible with third-party solutions.
Usage
The USW-Pro-Max-24-PoE is well-suited for most networks based on UniFi solutions. With PoE support, you can directly connect other devices to it and provide power (acting as an access switch). Additionally, its extensive management capabilities will be appreciated by any administrator, regardless of the network's size. The switch is suitable for both small offices and large, expansive networks.
