The TP-Link SG3428X-UPS is a managed switch from the JetStream L2+ series, equipped with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) and 4 SFP+ slots. A notable feature is its UPS function - there is a connector at the back of the enclosure where you can connect a 12V battery (battery must be purchased separately). The battery backup ensures the device continues to operate in case of a main power failure, with the connected battery recharging upon main power restoration. The SG3428X-UPS supports numerous Layer 2 management features and basic Layer 3 functions. It includes features such as QoS, link aggregation, spanning tree protocols, multicasting (IGMP/MLD Snooping), access control, and VLANs. Additionally, the device supports special functions designed for ISPs, including L2TP, DLDP, PPPoE ID Insertion, 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM, ERPS, sFlow, and DDM. The switch is compatible with the Omada system, allowing centralized management. It's ideal as a primary switch in small networks, an aggregation switch in medium and large networks, or even as an access switch in locations where PoE power is not needed. The enclosure is designed for mounting in a 19" Rack cabinet, and passive cooling is utilized.
24 gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 SFP+ slots
The switch is equipped with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). Each Ethernet port supports automatic speed negotiation for connections - 10/100/1000 Mbps. Additionally, the SG3428X-UPS features two management ports: microUSB and console RJ45.
The device has a switching capacity of 128 Gbps and a packet forwarding rate of 95.23 Mpps. It will perform well in any network with a backbone based on 1 Gbps infrastructure.
12 V battery input
The offered product features a built-in power supply with AC input ranging from 100 to 240 volts. Additionally, the switch is equipped with connectors for connecting a lead-acid battery with a voltage of 12 volts DC. In the event of a main power failure, the device automatically switches to battery power. Upon main power restoration, the batteries are recharged, similar to a typical UPS or buffer power supply. The battery needs to be purchased separately.
Multiple uses
The SG3428X-UPS is suitable for most networks based on 1 Gbps throughput. With its rich functionality, it can serve as the main switch in smaller networks, where you can utilize the SFP+ slots to connect essential devices. In larger networks, the SG3428X-UPS is best suited as an aggregation switch or even an access switch if PoE power is not needed. The SFP+ slots allow for efficient connections to the main switch, and the Omada platform ensures smooth, fast, and efficient management.
Safe network
Features such as IP-MAC-Port Binding, DHCP Snooping, and storm control are designed to protect your network from broadcast storms and ARP attacks. The switch is also secured against DoS attacks. Additionally, Access Control Lists (ACLs) allow you to restrict access to critical network segments.
QoS function
It allows for bandwidth control and enables the creation of up to 8 priority queues. It assigns priority to the most important actions taken by users, thereby improving the overall quality of transmission.
Layer 2+ management, IPv6 support
The device supports advanced Layer 2 features, including 802.1Q VLAN, Port Mirroring, STP/RSTP/MSTP, link aggregation, and 802.3x Flow Control. It also handles basic Layer 3 functions such as static routing.
The switch supports IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, MLD Snooping, IPv6 ACL, DHCPv6 Snooping, PMTU Discovery, and IPv6 Neighbor Discovery. It is fully adapted to operate in networks using IPv6.
ISP functions
The manufacturer has incorporated several additional features in the switch with internet service providers in mind. The device supports 802.3ah OAM, sFlow, DDM, PPPoE ID Insertion, and IGMP authentication. DLDP and 802.3ah OAM enhance Ethernet network monitoring and facilitate troubleshooting. The DDM feature allows for precise monitoring of the operational status of optical modules, including parameters such as temperature and voltage.
Extensive management capabilities
Access to the management panel can be obtained through a graphical web interface or command line interface (CLI). The switch does not necessarily require management via the Omada platform. The administrative connection can be protected by SSL or SSH encryption, ensuring high security and minimizing the risk of network intrusion.
Omada SDN
The SDN platform serves to integrate all compatible devices and provides centralized management from the cloud. You can create a very large network that you'll manage from a single interface. The key advantage of Omada SDN is its high scalability. Expanding the network with additional segments or interfaces is relatively seamless and doesn't result in significant downtime.
Omada application
You can use the Omada mobile app available for Android and iOS devices to manage and configure the switch. The initial setup consists of a few simple steps, which the app will guide you through quickly. You can manage the SG3428X-UPS both in standalone mode and controller mode.
