The Huawei S380-S8P2T is a gateway from the eKitEngine series, combining the functions of a router and a Layer 3 managed switch. It features 2 WAN ports (2 gigabit Ethernet ports) and 8 LAN ports (gigabit Ethernet). All LAN ports support PoE+ with a maximum power output per port of 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at. The total power budget for the entire device is 124 W. The maximum switching capacity is 16 Gb/s, and the egress capacity is 2 Gb/s. The S380-S8P2T can handle up to 300 users and supports DHCP server/client, DNS client, PPPoE client, ACL, and NAT. Management is done through a graphical Web interface, application, or SSH. The device supports WAN load balancing based on IP address and connection, allowing simultaneous use of all WAN ports. It has a compact desktop case and passive cooling. The gateway uses an external 56 V DC / 2.68 A power adapter, with a maximum power consumption of 145.8 W under full load. The S380-S8P2T is ideal for small networks using eKitEngine access points, acting simultaneously as a router, main switch, and access switch. You can connect APs directly to it, simplifying the network structure to a minimum.
10x gigabit Ethernet
The device is equipped with 10 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s), including 2 WAN ports and 8 LAN ports. It has a switching capacity of 16 Gb/s and a packet forwarding rate of 500 Kp/s for sending and 420 Kp/s for receiving. The S380-S8P2T also functions as a high-performance switch.
8 PoE+ outputs
All LAN ports are equipped with PoE+ power output. The maximum power per port, according to the standard, is 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at. The total power budget is 124 W, which is sufficient for connecting several access points.
The use of PoE allows you to power and transmit data through an Ethernet cable. With this type of switch, you only need to run one cable to each access point, eliminating the need for additional power supplies.
Built-in controller
The S380-S8P2T can serve as a controller (WAC) for access points from the eKitEngine series. You can connect a maximum of 64 APs and up to 300 users simultaneously to the device. These capabilities are sufficient for small and medium-sized networks.
Router functionality
The offered product also functions as a router, supporting NAT and DHCP server. An additional advantage is the bandwidth balancing feature (load balancing) - you can utilize multiple WAN ports simultaneously. This ensures that your network is protected against any potential failure that may occur with one of the operators.
Management is done through a graphical web interface, applications, or via SSH. The software allows you to monitor the network status and diagnose any issues that may arise during its operation.3 in 1
The Huawei S380-S8P2T combines the functionality of a switch, router, and access point controller. By using PoE power, it even allows for the removal of an access switch from the network, enabling direct connection of access points. In smaller networks comprising several access points, the S380-S8P2T can function as the sole device alongside the access points. Such a configuration significantly reduces the overall system costs without adversely affecting its subsequent operation.
