Description

The Ubiquiti USW Pro Max 16 PoE is a managed switch designed to operate under the UniFi system. It features 12 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps), 4 2.5G Ethernet ports (1/2.5 Gbps), and 2 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). The gigabit Ethernet ports provide PoE+ power output (802.3af/at), while the 2.5G Ethernet ports offer PoE++ power output (802.3af/at/bt). The maximum power per port is 15.4 W for 802.3af, 30 W for 802.3at, or 60 W for 802.3bt. The total power budget for all ports combined is 180 W. Depending on power consumption, this switch can power up to 16 access points.

Switches from the Pro series stand out with advanced management features. In addition to supporting Layer 2 functions (such as IGMP Snooping, port isolation, Voice VLAN, and DHCP Snooping), they also provide basic Layer 3 functionalities. The device supports DHCP, DHCP relay, Inter-VLAN routing, static routing, and network isolation based on access control lists. The Pro-Max-24-PoE is well-suited as the main switch in smaller networks based on modern access points or as an access switch in larger networks.

UniFi Network

The offered product operates under the UniFi software. UniFi enables centralized management of multiple devices from a single application. It is primarily designed for building hotspot networks composed of access points but also supports monitoring systems - the "Protect" series. With UniFi, you can build an extensive network and control it from one system. This allows for rapid configuration changes, hotspot settings adjustments, or firmware updates. The UniFi application is entirely free; you can download it for your computer or as a mobile app.

12 gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 2.5G Ethernet ports, 2 SFP+ slots, PoE++

The switch is equipped with 12 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps), 4 2.5G Ethernet ports (1000/2500 Mbps), and 2 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). The total switching capacity is 84 Gbps, and the packet forwarding rate is 62 Mpps. The device is designed for use in high-bandwidth networks thanks to the inclusion of 2.5G Ethernet ports and SFP+ slots.

Additionally, all gigabit Ethernet ports feature PoE/PoE+ output (802.3af/at), while the 2.5G Ethernet ports provide PoE++ output (802.3bt). The maximum output power per port is, according to the standards, 15.4 W for 802.3af, 30 W for 802.3at, or 60 W for 802.3bt. The total power budget for the entire device is 180 W. This power is sufficient to connect 16 access points with relatively low power consumption, such as the AC Pro. On the other hand, the PoE++ standard and 2.5G Ethernet ports allow the connection of modern access points from the U7 series.

Advanced management

The offered product supports all standard Layer 2 features such as IGMP Snooping, LACP, DHCP Snooping, port isolation, and STP/RSTP. Additionally, it supports some Layer 3 features including static routing, network isolation using ACLs, Inter-VLAN routing, and DHCP relay.

Devices from the USW-Pro-Max series provide more advanced management compared to the USW or USW-Pro solutions.

Etherlightning

Etherlightning is a feature introduced by Ubiquiti to improve monitoring and management of cabling. Each port can be illuminated to aid in locating it, detect throughput, or mark a specific VLAN/network. You can choose from various colors, and settings can be selected via the mobile application available on Android/iOS devices. When in a server room, you can easily locate the port to which a particular device is connected without needing to bring a computer – just your smartphone will suffice. To achieve optimal brightness of the illumination, it's recommended to use patch cords from the UniFi Etherlightning Patch Cable series.

Desktop cabinet, DC power supply

The switch has a desktop enclosure, allowing it to be placed on a desk or shelf. The package also includes a special bracket for wall mounting using standard dowels. The device features a standard DC socket with an input voltage of 54 V DC and a nominal current of 3.9 A. A suitable power adapter is included in the package. The maximum power consumption of the device itself is 30 W.

Usage

The USW Pro Max 16 PoE is suitable for most networks that utilize UniFi solutions. With PoE capability, you can simultaneously transmit data and power connected access points or other compatible devices. The extensive management features make it well-suited as the primary switch in a network. It can be effectively used in homes, offices, as well as in large, expansive networks.
