UltraLAN gel-filled FTP Category 5e cable. The veins are made of copper-clad aluminum (CCA). The cable is intended for outdoor use, with a high-quality PE coating and a gel to prevent longitudinal water penetration. It is resistant to adverse weather conditions and shielded - the wires are covered with an aluminum foil. The outer diameter is 5.2 mm, while the vein diameter is approximately 0.5 mm (24AWG). The cable can be successfully used for data transmission outdoors. It is sold in a carton containing approximately 305 meters of cable (1000 ft).
Category 5e
The cable meets the requirements of Category 5e, which is currently the most popular category of Ethernet cabling. It supports frequencies up to 100 MHz and is typically used in the 1000BASE-T (1 Gb/s) standard, but it can also handle the 2.5GBASE-T (2.5 Gb/s) standard.
Foiled Twisted Pair (F/UTP), formerly known as FTP, features additional shielding (denoted by "F" - from English "Foiled"). All cable conductors are surrounded by aluminum foil, which serves as electrical shielding. This type of protection guards the cable against external interference, including radio frequency interference, and provides an additional shield for connected devices against surges. It's important to remember that shielded cable must be properly grounded on both ends; improper installation of shielding can degrade transmission quality. The conductors are insulated in colored jackets, with the use of colors allowing for the identification of each conductor and the termination of RJ45 connectors.
The conductors are made using CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) technology, where an aluminum core is coated with copper. The average diameter of the conductor is around 0.5 mm (24AWG). Utilizing this technology in production allows for a significant reduction in cable cost without sacrificing functionality. For standard Ethernet transmissions without Power over Ethernet (PoE) requirements, you won't notice any difference between using CCA and pure copper cables. This solution can greatly reduce installation costs.
The offered product has a coating made of Polyethylene (PE). The cable is suitable for outdoor use, resistant to UV radiation, and protected against moisture ingress. The outer diameter is 5.2 mm. The product cannot be used indoors and complies with the CPR directive, meeting the Fca standard.
Inside the coating, there is a special hydrophobic gel that protects against longitudinal moisture ingress. This is an additional safeguard that enables cable installation in challenging conditions, such as in sewers or pipes where water may periodically be present. The gel protects the veins, preventing them from being permanently damaged by moisture.
The product is sold in cardboard packaging. The cable inside is wound on a spool, which can be conveniently unwound through a specially designed hole. Additional plastic protection shields the cable from mechanical damage and abrasion during unwinding. At the top of the cardboard, there is a handle that allows you to easily carry the carton using only one hand. The side wall is openable, allowing the entire cable to be quickly removed if needed. Inside the carton, there are 305 meters of cable.
UltraLAN cables are originally packed in pairs in sturdy transport cardboard boxes. When ordering an even number, you will receive the cables in an additional packaging, which is ideal for courier shipments.
