This version of the RB5009 has all the bells and whistles of the previous model: Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and a 10 Gigabit SFP+ cage for fiber connectivity. It has the speed, the power, and the durability. But this time, we have added PoE-in & PoE-out on all eight Ethernet ports. Combined with the 2-pin connector and the DC jack, you’re getting 10 separate ways of powering. Dual redundant power supplies would usually take your uninterrupted uptime to the next level. RB5009UPr+S+IN takes it one step above that!

All power options support a wide voltage range of 24 – 57 V. However, you can not mix the voltages. If you’re using PoE-out to power other devices, the board will choose the source with the highest voltage (DC jack or the 2-pin connector) to power those.

Each PoE-out port can supply up to 25W of power. All the ports combined are limited to 130W, which should be enough for most setups. You can specify maximum available power from your power sources manually, if necessary. When it comes to PoE-out features, the new RB5009 can trade blows with our legendary PoE switches: CRS354 & CRS328. In the smallest possible form-factor and for the best price on the market!

High performance

RB5009 has an ARM 64bit processor with 4 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz each. Additionally, it has 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and 1 GB of built-in memory (NAND). This translates into high routing performance, even higher than that of the 1100AHx4.

The offered product is equipped with 3 types of network interfaces - Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s), 2.5G Ethernet port (2.5 Gb/s) and SFP+ slot (10 Gb/s). So many interfaces provide almost any application. The device can be used at home as an efficient router, you can use it in the corporate network as the main router or, for example, an access device connected with optical fiber in a given department. It will also work in every ISP.

PoE input and output on each port, many power options

Each of the Ethernet ports (also on the 2.5G port) has both PoE input and output. You can choose which option you are using at the moment. The device supports PoE in the popular IEEE 802.3af / at standards, it is perfect for monitoring or working with access points. In such a situation, it may eliminate the need for an additional switch. It will also prove successful in active fiber optic networks, the RB5009 can be powered from the clients' side via PoE, so you do not need to supply power to the box in which it is installed. In addition, the power supply is possible via a 2-pin DC connector or standard DC jack, the voltage range is 24 - 57 V DC. The PoE power budget is 25W per port and 130W for the entire device.

What happens if I connect multiple power sources?

The RB5009 will always select the source with the highest voltage to power. The above graphic shows a hypothetical situation - the power supply is 57 V via PoE, 48 V via the 2-pin terminal and 24 V via the DC socket. In this situation, the device takes 57 V power supply, in the event of a power failure, it will switch to a 2-pin terminal (48 V). If this power source fails, the RB5009 will start using the 24 V power supply on the DC socket.
