MikroTik CSS610-8P-2S + IN is a managed switch equipped with 8 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s) and 2 SFP+ slots (10 Gb/s). There is a PoE power output in IEEE 802.3af/at standards on each of the Ethernet ports. The total power budget is 140 W, so it is enough for IP cameras or access points. Management includes Layer 2 functions such as port-to-port forwarding, broadcast storm control, MAC address filtering, and VLAN configuration. The switch has a small desktop housing, but the set includes long ears for installation in a rack 19". The device is equipped with a built-in AC power supply.

The offered product belongs to the Cloud Smart Switch (CSS) series - managed switches with the SwitchOS system. It offers numerous functions in the Layer 2 layer, including port-to-port forwarding, broadcast storm control, MAC filtering, VLAN configuration, traffic mirroring and bandwidth limiting. Thanks to this, it will be perfect for most networks, an additional advantage is also the extended monitoring of PoE ports. The construction is based on the 88E6193X switch chip.

The device has been equipped with 8 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s) and 2 SFP+ slots. On each of the Ethernet ports there is a PoE power output in the IEEE 802.3af/at standard. It is a standard widely used by many manufacturers, including IP cameras and access points. The maximum PoE power budget is 140 W, so it is more than enough to connect 8 devices.

Small housing, AC or DC powering

A desktop type housing was used, but the set includes extended ears that allow mounting in a Rack 19". The switch has a built-in AC power supply, and a DC socket on the front of the housing allows you to connect an external power supply with a voltage of 48 - 57 V. Passive cooling is used, thanks to which the device works silently.

Multiple uses

The switch, thanks to its attractive price and its possibilities, has many applications. The PoE 802.3af/at standard is widely used by many manufacturers, not only MikroTik. The most popular application will be networks composed of IP cameras or access points. Especially in the second scenario, the CSS610-8P-2S+IN will show its advantages as it has Gigabit Ethernet ports and thus will not limit the bandwidth of the connected APs. The switch will work in a small network, even at home, as well as in larger companies. Thanks to the attractive price, you can use one device on each floor or separate the network into separate segments. In this application, several 8-port switches will work better than one, large, e.g. 24-port one. An important advantage is the SFP + ports - you can use one port to provide high-speed transmission (up to 10 Gb / s), and the other port to forward it to another device. This facilitates the creation of a high-speed network backbone and encourages the segmentation of the network into different segments.
