Description

Huawei OptiXstar S800E is an XGS-PON ONU client module designed for installation in devices equipped with an SFP+ slot. This allows a standard router or switch to function as an XGS-PON client terminal. The S800E features a standard SC/APC interface, just like a typical ONU/ONT. The maximum receive sensitivity is -28 dBm, and the XGS-PON transmission should be connected directly to the optical module. The product supports automatic speed negotiation and can operate in 1 / 2.5 / 5 / 10 Gbps modes. It supports all essential features such as OMCI communication, IGMP and MLD snooping, and MAC address filtering—the full list is available in the specifications. One functional limitation is the maximum number of supported MAC addresses, which is 256.

Note!
The module supports a maximum of 256 MAC addresses—ensure this is sufficient to handle all client devices at the given location.
You must also ensure that the device in which the S800E is installed is properly cooled, especially if placed inside a rack cabinet. The module can reach high temperatures; if the device lacks effective active cooling, the module may shut down due to overheating. Do not use the S800E in devices with passive cooling.

XGS-PON ONU Module

The offered product is an SFP+ optical module that functions as an ONU client terminal in an XGS-PON network. Despite its compact size, the device supports most of the features found in standard terminals. It supports OMCI communication, multicast handling, basic security functions, and QoS. A full list of supported features can be found in the specification section below the description. With the OptiXstar S800E, you can turn any device with an SFP+ interface into an XGS-PON client terminal. The maximum transmission throughput is symmetrically 10 / 10 Gbps.

SC/APC Optical Port

The module is equipped with an SC/APC optical port, featuring a receive sensitivity of -28 dBm and an optical power range of 4 to 9 dBm. The S800E interface supports automatic speed negotiation and can operate in 1 / 2.5 / 5 / 10 Gbps modes, allowing it to adapt to specific network conditions and data packages accordingly.

Use Case

The OptiXstar S800E is suitable for use in most XGS-PON networks. The module is especially useful for connecting business clients who require full control over the operation of the client terminal—needs that a standard 1-port ONT may not fulfill. Using a terminal in the form of an optical module also helps reduce the number of devices deployed in the local network, which is an important factor for many subscribers.
